Wyoming Clockworks
Service, Repair, and Restoration of Fine Clocks
Look how clean the parts are now. Parts are being dried in a basket with a heated blower underneath.
Plates are then refinished with Brasso to bring out the shine, along with certain other components of the
movement. All brass parts are then lacquered to protect them from tarnish and corrosion.
Next, I begin to file pivots and burnish them on my lathe. I am using a mainspring arbor to show this
process better. Please note the appearance of the metal by my finger.
Filing the pivot end with a pivot file to smooth out any imperfections before burnishing.
Placing a few drops of oil on the burnisher. The burnisher finishes out smoothing the metal and
hardening the surface of the pivot so it minimizes wear and lasts longer.
