| About my business: I had no idea that a minor hobby of mine would someday turn into a business for me here in Northeastern Wyoming. My 'forte' had always been in fixing things, and I was largely self-taught in all that I did. I had begun a career in appliance repair back in 1979, and worked for various companies, both private and brand name. I was always careful of my back and knees, but time and age eventually took their toll, and I was forced by those circumstances to leave the appliance repair field after doing it for 25 years. I had always been fascinated by clocks whenever I went to my customer's homes, and most particularly the 400 day, or anniversary clock. I bought a used one once for a good price, took it home, and fixed it, including a complete teardown and cleaning. I began repairing other people's clocks while on my service calls, so when I was forced to look for something else to make a gainful living, I believed I had found it in clocks. After accumulating some needed and special tools, as any man would tell you, I found I needed more. I had gotten an award from the Wyoming Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, and used those resources to buy more and better equipment, take some correspondence training, and I opened Clockworks officially in August of 2004. My approach to clock repair is the same as it was when I was in appliance repair; to be the best I could be, and to be honest with my customers. |
